Derbyshire are down

Worcestershire Northamptonshire are up. Surrey have an 18-year-old who can score double hundreds and may finally stop dicking about hoovering up ageing stars from other counties.

We’re thinking of rebranding King Cricket ‘the home of in-depth inaccurate county cricket coverage’.

    1. Incidentally, I’ve always thought of Northants CCC as the Cobblers, like the football team from those parts. I’ve never really paid them much mind, I suppose, especially since they started malingering in Div 2. The cricket team that is. I’ve never much been minded about Northampton’s football team irresepective of their travels up and down the leagues.

Recently I discovered that they don’t go by that particular soubriquet. I refuse to change my position.

    1. The ratio of strike-throughs to conventional text would be even higher if we hadn’t added additional words to replace those lost.

  1. Are you going to have a punt at the next round of fixtures? You might get closer than you did earlier in the season (burn)

    1. Is that aimed at us? We actually don’t get it if it is.

Today’s turning out well. We’re having to ask for insults to be explained to us.

    2. If you have to explain it, its because its terrible.

You have been blighted this season by trying to work out who is playing who over the next week. I hilariously challenged you to predict the next round of fixtures.

      Lets move on.

    3. We presumed you meant predict the results, not the fixtures.

That was actually a good joke.

This is a new low for us.

No it isn’t. We’ve been lower. This is just a different low.

  2. How about King Cricket: The home of some County Cricket Commentary.

Or King Cricket: The only place that cares about county cricket during the football season.

    1. We don’t want to oversell this. Maybe ‘the second home of some county cricket, some of the time’.

  3. A middle aged guy beer and curry evening last night bought forth the suggestion that within a few years football (including the Cobblers in whichever Division they find themselvs in) will become a Rugby League-style Summer game.

If this happens, will the ECB be able to succeed in their long term mission of making cricket a Winter sport?

As for the Cricketing Cobblers, bring back Colin Milburn, Brian Reynolds, Brian Crump and Keith Andrew, that’s what I say.

KC, keep reporting the LVCC in any way you like. At least, someone will be doing it.
