As a colossal nerd whose interests include cricket and the internet, we’re interested to know what you think about the newly launched The Cricketer website.
It’s the bastard offspring of The Wisden Cricketer and Test Match Extra. The latter you might not have heard of because it looked pretty hideous and no-one read it.
We can see one thing that is massively, massively wrong with the look of this new site. See if you can spot what it is.
Some would say it’s a minor detail. We’d say it’s like looking at the sibling of a famous person – there’s just something fundamentally wrong about their appearance and you’re never going to learn to overlook it.
It’s the picture of Aggers, isn’t it?
Face for radio, blah, blah, etc.
the betting adverts?
I think perhaps the logo has offended you as a renowned batting coach? The batsman in the logo has foundered betwixt active and passive whilst playing a cover drive. He is probably not the clearest technician.
Whilst it is a bit too showy for my taste to allow your knee touch the ground whilst playing a cover drive it get some people drooling. But this chap has clearly fallen over – just look at his back foot.
That is closest, but it is not the batsman.
That sounds a bit like the cricketing equivalent of the aeroplane in the mural on the wall at the Tamworth NSW airport. The attitude (in the aviation sense) of the aircraft is not appropriate given the positions of the control surfaces.
is it the weird K in cricketer?
Yes! Look at it!
It’s CLEARLY a lower-case K that they’ve lopped the top off.
Top article in Cricinfo KC! I often overlook the names of the authors while reading, but the moment I spotted Rob Key’s name, I knew it had to be written by you.
Thanks. We forgot that one was due to appear.
And there’s me thinking that the picture of Simon Jones was WBA’s Kevin Phillips playing in a Bunbury match!
Maybe the ‘K’ is their atempt at an obscure form of branding?
KC, don’t you go shaving off your on K now.
The fonts are all crappy. I blame George Osborne.
Shave your K off KC and you will be singing soprano.
Been there ,absolutely hideous.I won’t be visiting ” The Krikiter” again.
Is it that the front page is literally covered in three pictures of Agnew, and that he seems to be getting fatter as you scroll down the page?
Oh, it’s that K thing. Maybe you should try something similar – king cricKet?
I don’t like the fact that it’s layout is exactly the same as cricinfo. When I was at school you’d get told off for copying off the person next to you. It doesn’t set a very good example to any young children does it?
Monty is still in the England team?
