We’re generally in favour of Twenty20, but one downside is that it seems to necessitate the reading of one too many articles about cricket politics.
Cricket politics is dull and it eats into time that could better be spent keeping abreast of developments in the monkey kingdom. Hopefully someone’s on top of that. The last we heard, they’d developed a barter system and had been experimenting with various alloys. Have they developed the wheel yet?
In other news, a Test match starts and despite the format’s long history, two previous Tests between the sides and years of watching experience, pretty much nobody’s got any idea how it’s actually going to go.
Brilliant. You couldn’t artificially manufacture a better sporting contest.
Never mind all that – when did the monkeys learn of alloys? It’s only a short step from Duralumin to the Planet of the Apes, y’know. And I bet they won’t be very interested in cricket once they take over. They might even be conspiciously indifferent to it, as is traditional in the Animal Kingdom.
You should have more faith in our simian brethren, AP.
As we speak the monkeys are drawing up a new Test schedule which allows ample recuperation time for players, thus ensuring fast bowlers continue to have a part to play in the game.
Gosh – you would have thought they would have enjoyed spin only!
On the contrary, they’re very eclectic in their bowling tastes.
Having glimpsed at the score this lunch time have a pretty good idea about how it’s going to go….
Stunned!
Predictable joke alert: They certainly haven’t learned how to bat.
