The power of intimidation

Matthew Hoggard earns respect by getting clean bowled‘Oh no, Paul Collingwood’s coming on to bowl. He’s England’s best bowler.’

‘I thought Collingwood was good, but Pietersen’s EVEN BETTER. Where have they been hiding this guy.’

‘Hoggard was looking in ominous form during that innings of two. That bodes badly for the rest of the series.’

Just some of the thoughts going through Kiwi heads during this first Test.

It’s good to see England persevering with Hoggard as a nightwatchman. It’s such a productive practice and Hoggard’s such a great exponent of the art. He must last until the close of play almost half the time and when he’s not out overnight, he always ensures that he doesn’t hang around in the morning, wasting valuable batting time for the batsmen.

Nightwatchmen are stupid. Uncle J Rod agrees with us.

  1. …oh dear … along with the thought

“That Harmison’s a holy terror for speed – the bugger bowls at 75 mph on occasions – is that the fastest ever?”

    I can’t believe I am dissing my main man…

  2. 75mph is quick to most Kiwi’s..

Until Shane Bond came along, they hadn’t seen a bowler who could hit 80mph in years!

Medium pace trundlers are part of the overall genetic makeup

  3. After sending Jimmy Anderson in as nightwatchman against Sri Lanka, I was half expecting to see Monty padded up and at the crease. Perhaps New Zealand should send Martin and Patel in to open the second innings.

  4. are you kidding?!?! Danny Morrison was really fast… I mean he ran really fast to the crease but the ball came out of his hand real slow..
