Do we need a sign?
Surely England can win the match simply by being the better team and playing better on the day?
I need a fucking sign, a big bastard VMS.

I imagine someone from this website might even have been there.
Come on England…I’ll go to bed now.
Strangely, Daisy and I were at Wimbledon yesterday and found ourselves sitting next to a couple of cricket-loving women from Lincolnshire who are regulars at Trent Bridge.
The Lincolnshire lasses were very negative about England’s chances today, despite my suggestion that Australia have a very poor track record in matches played in the Midlands, especially Edgbaston. To cement my point, I asked them if they were present on that splendid day at Trent Bridge in 2015, at which point they both beamed and confessed that they had been there.
I wish I had asked them if they had met Bert that day. Silly me.
Bert was there? Why has he never mentioned it?
I didn’t like to make a thing about it.
My preferred oracle is a random verse from the Quran. This is what I received:
“Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof.”
Fairly limpid, I think.
I’m on the record (its an email to a bunch of friends, but they all count) as saying that whoever wins today’s game will win the World Cup.
If I wasn’t clear, that means, you’d bloody well better win today England.
(Even though I will support NZ against whoever in the final)
That sign better be working… Aus to bat first? That was not part of the plan
The Holy Sign! Ah believe, Lord! Ah believe 🙂
If this is the thread to discuss today’s game, then YESSSSSSSSSSSS! First ball duck for Finch!
How are everyone’s spaking abilities, currently?
I’ve entered into an Ashes side-bet. One bottle of red, winner takes… er, it. The rule is that because NZ are waiting in the final, the wine has to be Kiwi wine. Thank god India didn’t win.
Now I realise that England are kind0of winning at the moment (30/3), but we shouldn’t let that stand in the way of some good old-fashioned pessimism. So who knows of a decent Kiwi red?
What have you done, Bert, what have you done?
I’d go for a Kiwi Pinot Noir, Bert:

I have tried several on the list and would from experience recommend:
* Seresin Estate
* Craggy Range
* Nautilus
Although I haven’t necessarily tried the exact years described in the article.
So did you meet the lovely Lincolnshire ladies at Trent Bridge in 2015? You’ve kept unusually quiet about that aspect of the day too.
Looks like I picked an interesting time to wake up today.
You’re going to the final, well played and congratulations! 🙂
Easy now 🙂
